Altera & Veradigm (formerly Allscripts) Data Migration and Archival: Streamlining Transitions and Ensuring Data Integrity
Triyam has facilitated data archival and migration from Altera and Veradigm legacy systems (formerly Allscripts) for numerous clients across healthcare organizations, successfully archiving approximately 2.29 million clinical records.
A wide range of products, including clinical EHRs, financial and operational services, patient engagement solutions, analytics, and technical services, are part of the Allscripts legacy product line. Healthcare providers looking to transfer old data to or from a Veradigm system need a vendor capable of supporting the necessary data extraction, migration, conversion, and integration processes.
Triyam brings extensive experience, having completed 30+ Allscripts projects to date. Data extraction, transformation, and loading from a source legacy system to a target go-forward system or archive are executed using a well-established, standardized, and repeatable process. We have in-depth knowledge of TouchWorks, Paragon, Sunrise, and other Allscripts products. Our legacy data management solution is compatible with both server-based and cloud-based applications, facilitating seamless data migration to and from previous Allscripts systems.
About Altera & Veradigm (formerly Allscripts) :
N. Harris Computer Corporation (“Harris”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc., has announced the completion of its purchase of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions’ Hospitals and Large Physician Practices business segment. This segment will now operate under the name Altera Digital Health, a business unit of Harris Healthcare.
Altera Digital Health holds approximately 3.4% of the US market share. Its EHRs include:
-
- Sunrise: The Sunrise electronic health record features a business intelligence and analytics solution that integrates clinical and financial data to help organizations enhance quality measures and address antibiotic stewardship, the opioid crisis, and infection control.
- Paragon Denali: This cloud-native, SaaS EHR solution is designed for rural, critical access, and community hospitals.
- TouchWorks EHR: This system provides clinical, operational, and wellness solutions for medium to large single or multi-specialty physician practices, MSOs, and IDNs, supporting safer care and successful population health initiatives.
Veradigm (formerly Allscripts Healthcare Solutions) is among the top 5 of over 500 ambulatory EHR vendors in the healthcare market. In 2022, Allscripts sold its hospital and large physician practice business segment, which included Sunrise, Paragon, TouchWorks, Opal, and dbMotion solutions, to N. Harris Computer Corporation. This segment was rebranded under the Altera Digital Health business unit. Veradigm, the rebranded entity, now retains the solutions it kept from Allscripts.

Our Client’s Voice:
The actions listed below are ideal for decommissioning healthcare apps that will be migrated and archived:
-
- Project Initiation & Planning: Creating a project plan that synchronizes activities and milestones with the project lifecycle is the first step. Resources are allocated according to a set budget and schedule. Confirmation of import specifications for the target system, schedule, and cutover method are all part of the initial kick-off call.
- Gain Access: Because system access is essential for reaching project milestones, Triyam’s tech team collaborates closely with client resources. If data is not provided in a predetermined format, network and/or software login credentials may be provided.
- Pre-requisites: Gathering to determine, specify, and order the necessary data items and images. Additional data customizations from the source system that need to be duplicated in the destination system will be specified by the stakeholders.
- Data Extraction: If the client or any third party fails to supply data, Triyam’s IT team will start the process of extracting the data and preparing it for loading and transformation. Quality and accuracy are ensured throughout the extraction process by performing a number of checksums and data counts against the source location.
- Integration of Data: After data mapping to specifications, it is examined. To meet migration criteria, data structures are first modeled and then reverse-engineered. Data purification guidelines are used to start building the translation table, and a unique value listing is supplied.
- Validation of Data: Following the loading of data, the client and Triyam’s IT team resources start the testing and validation process by verifying the accuracy of the data. Sample data is sent to the target system for internal quality analysis against the source system to evaluate the ingestion engine and QA environment.
- Implementation: The data is prepared for deployment to its intended system, which could be either HealthData ArchiverTM or the target EHR.
- Final Project Steps and Quality Assurance: Every migration project typically has three checkpoints to determine whether any changes to the project, procedure, or product are required. Feedback is used to improve the project and contribute to the business’s ongoing improvement initiatives.
